Another_Space — HIIT Class in London
So this weekend I headed down to the big smoke to check out some of the workout classes going on down there, as well as the health food cafes and stores. My main stop was the HIIT class at Another_Space.
As some of you may know, I'm heading on a surf retreat later this year hosted by Sophie Everard of the Mad To Live blog (so stoked — but more about that another time…). Sophie's been so great and we've been chatting through Instagram; she invited me along to one of the HIIT sessions at AS. I was so keen to have a go as they mix in a lot of boxing/mma techniques with the class, so packed up my gloves and headed out of the grey North.
The class was taken by Richard — I highly recommend him as a trainer. His attitude was great and he made the session fun as well as challenging (and trust me, it was challenging!). The routine was 45 minutes long, incorporating boxing techniques on a punchbag, and other conditioning exercises using the floor space and sand bags. I personally felt that this class pushed me to the perfect point. I was tired and could feel the burn, but was buzzing the whole way through. Because you're constantly changing exercises and focus, you tend to forget about any aches and tiredness you're feeling which is a great distraction and helps you push further.
The gym room itself set the perfect atmosphere. Dim lights made it feel more intense, yet made you subconsciously more comfortable as it's a little more private knowing that people can't see every bead of sweat dripping off you. The bags were all branded amazingly (the designer part of me had a field day) and it was small enough to feel as though you were really getting a personal service.
Naturally, the rest of the place is awesome too. From walking up to the exterior of the building to seeing the cafe bar area, the bright, light space and all the subtle yet powerful branding just really satisfied me. I could've spent hours in this place! A huge thing I find important too is that it was immaculate. Everywhere was clean and fresh, with provision of Cowshed toiletries and soft fluffy towels. Bliss.
I know when I'm back in London I'll 100% be taking the yoga class there. The studio looked beautiful, I had to pop in and have a wander round. I've been following Steffy White for a while on social media and realised she teaches a class there — that's now on the top of my list!
All in all a huge success. I can't wait to get back, and I'm actually gutted I don't live any closer! (Or that there's a branch up North... *hint hint*) I couldn't recommend it more — definitely worth a visit. Thanks so much for the opportunity Sophie and the rest of the guys!
